The Washington Building Craftsmanship Awards are unique because they recognize the Craftsman that is doing the work in the field. Richards was recognized for 8 Craftsmanship Awards, 4 for Lighting Systems, 3 for Power Distribution and 1 for Special Systems.
While tourists headed to Block Island for their summer vacations, McPhee Utility Division employees were there working on a new 34.5kV substation for National Grid. The new substation which will integrate with a new mainland substation in Narragansett called Dillon’s Corner by 20 miles of submarine cable.
This work is all in preparation and conjunction with the creation of 5 offshore wind turbines on the Deepwater Wind Block Island Wind Farm project.
Richards supported the 12th annual Team River Run DC Biathlon with a National Veteran Boat Sponsorship. Since 2004, Team River Run has helped over 10,000 veterans begin their journey on the river to recovery.
McPhee’s Service Division recently completed work on the Parkville Microgrid System in Hartford, CT.
The project constructed a microgrid system powered by fuel cells that will help manage electricity costs and supply emergency power to a portion of the city’s Parkville neighborhood. McPhee provided the manpower and expertise to complete underground electrical work, fuel cell AC and DC wiring, static and automatic transfer switch work, and installed and tested all of the communication including the fiber optic demark extension.
